I turned on the Red Sox-Rays game tonight in the first inning tonight and thought I might change it if things got boriing.

But it never did.  The frist at-bat I saw was Evan Longoria's homerun in the 1st inning and I couldn't stray after that.  The game went 11 and from the ninth on I was standing up, jumping around.  At these weren't even my teams.

But after the game-winning scored on a "why-the-hell are they running" sac-fly, all I could think was, man I really wish this was the M's in this position.

Watching a team like the Rays be on this kind of run makes me almost tearful about the the current state of the Mariners.  In 1995, I watched a young team do the impossible and that image of Edgar's double will never leave my mind.  Longoria's performance tonight made me excited and I couldn't be further away from the team he plays for.  I feel like Josh Hartnett must feel ike watching Zach Effron right now.  That used to be me.

The M's won't be good for awhile and I've accpeted that.  But watching a team like the Rays sure makes that realization harder.
