In response to my earlier published article: “Jon and Kate Plus 8: Another celebrity marriage in crisis” which discussed the claims of alleged cheating by Jon Gosselin with 23 year-old third-grade teacher, Deanna Hummel, many of my readers (along with the majority of America) do not feel sympathy for the Gosselins, namely Kate.
According to a CNN/Headline News Poll, it seems that 69% do not feel sympathy for the reality TV star couple over the 31% who do. This appears to be mainly because of the "bitchy" way that Kate treats Jon on camera for the world to see. In addition, Kate has also been accused of cheating on Jon with the family bodyguard, Steve Neild, which she very strongly denies.
One of my readers replied, “She (Kate) yells and grumps at that poor guy (Jon) more then I do to my dog. Go Jon and get a woman that lets you eat food other then organic and lets you wipe your own ass! I don’t think he should cheat, they should just end it! But hey, money rules everyone these days. If I were bringing in that much an episode I would let his ass cheat and get humiliated."
I have personally watched a few episodes and agree that Kate seems to treat Jon a bit harshly on camera to the point where he is nearly emasculated for all to see. A reality show on national television is not the best venue to scold a spouse much less repeatedly, week after week. This might explain why he no longer wishes to be involved with the series on TLC.
Let’s face the facts; all the allegations have made Jon and Kate the latest buzz on nearly every news channel. Although the majority of these stories have been anything but positive, I am sure that the ratings of their reality show are going through the roof. More controversy = more ratings = more $$$.
Regardless of Jon Gosselin’s treatment by his wife Kate, cheating is wrong. If their marriage is broken beyond repair then it is best that the couple dissolve the marriage and move on. However, having 8 children together means that the couple should take the strongest measures to do what is best for the kids and put them first and foremost. This includes shielding the children from any negative press regarding their parents.
