I had a great challenge once with an item I purchased and
I became highly motivated to sell it because other sellers were not having much luck selling it. And, since I love a good challenge, I took on this personal quest.
This quest started after I picked up a couple new CD’s from a clearance shelf at a local shop. They were drastically reduced with one of those “Pink” dots.
This type of store uses the “dot” system to mark items down. Different colors represent different discounts. I love the “Pink” dots because they are 75% off!
I picked up several items. Two of the CDs were the same called:
Cleveland Style Polka by Dick Suhay.
When I did a completed search for this CD, I soon learned these were not selling very well. Several listings had no sales and others sold for only 99 cent sales.
I then took a new look at the CD. After reading through the back of it, I noticed a group of words called: “Piano Accordion!” And I thought; hmmm, wonder what search will bring up with those words?
I took a look and soon discovered that Piano Accordions were very popular and sold for a nice chunk of change. This also meant they were highly searchable and desirable. “Polka” was a good word to use as well.
My solution was clear. I listed the CD and adjusted the title to:
POLKA Cd Mint New Factory Sealed PIANO ACCORDION nr
By creating my title with those “Key” words I also find it very helpful to use CAPS now and then to get attention. I try to use all the spaces as much as possible when I am creating a title for my listing. And I try to use the most desirable, eye catching and searchable words I can use.
Examples:
New, Factory Sealed, Mint and one of my favorite words: NR which means: No Reserve!
With this particular challenge I increased the odds even more for success by adding FREE SHIPPING!
As I say to my husband all the time that loves to spend money buying lottery tickets: “ Listing items on eBay have better odds than a buying a lottery ticket!”
I’m happy to report that my listing was a selling success and sold for $10.50 to the high bidder AND I sent a second chance offer to the next bidder, selling the second one for $10.00!
I also noticed that I had added a gallery photo and the other sellers did not:
No, I didn’t make millions, I made a few bucks and had a great deal of fun at the same time!
Just another small reason why I love eBay!
Forget the lottery tickets this week! Gain better odds by listing an item on eBay!
