Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has said she will not seek re-election, and will step down from her post by the end of the month. In a choacked address on CNN, Palin said "I'm taking my fight for what's right elsewhere," fuelling speculation that she intends to seek the GOP nomination for 2012, but a source close to her is saying she will get out of politics "for good"

“People who know me know that besides faith and family, nothing’s more important to me than our beloved Alaska,” said Palin. “Serving her people is the greatest honor I could imagine.” Palin made the announcement today at a news conference at her home in Wasilla. “I am determined to take the right path for Alaska even though it is not the easiest path,” Palin said.
