What in the wide, wide world of sports is going on around here?  First, is hospitalized with blood clots and forced to cancel tour dates.  Then, Slipknot postponed August/September dates due to an unspecified illness sufferred by drummer Joey Jordison.  To top it off, Motorhead canceled a Denver date without giving a reason.  And now, the Mastersof Speed Metal, Slayer, has been forced to cancel their Canadian tour dates because frontman, singer, and bassist, Tom Araya, has been admitted to the hospital for urgent back surgery.

The Canadian tour was supposed to feature Megadeth, Machine Head, and Suicide Silence.  Quite a formidable line-up. No word yet whether they will be able to perform the UK leg of the tour.

Guitarist Kerry King issued this statement:  "What is foremost in our minds right now is that Tom do whatever he needs to to get this taken care of.  While all four of us are disappointed that we won't be able to see through all of our committments set for the next few weeks, the most important thing is Tom's health".

Slayer's new CD, 'World Painted Blood', was released this week.
