So many teachers will be retiring in the next few years.

Where will all the new teachers come from?

Each month one new school is being completed.

Where will all the new teachers come from?

A great many, new, fine, enthusiastic teachers are being laid off. How many will leave the profession or even the state?

Where will all the new teachers come from?

College students will be discouraged by the layoffs and the plethora of negative LAUSD news, and not choose to study education.

Where will all the new teachers come from?

The teachers may be forced to take a pay cut, just like we did in the early 1990’s.

Where will all the new teachers come from?

In a few years, LAUSD might again have to offer   emergency credentials. From what I saw, there were some good emergency credentialed teachers, but overall it was a disaster for the students.

Anyone who had a bachelor’s degree, who could pass the CBEST, and who was willing to take continuing classes towards a credential, was accepted. Emergency credentialed teachers found ways to bypass the classes in education.

Worst of all they had to learn on the job. No student teaching. No college classes on methodology or subject matter. Just on the job training.

Would you trust a doctor, a lawyer, a dentist, an accountant, or any professional whose position requires a college education including preparation for their position?
What about a barber learning on the job with no training?

NO, NO, NO!

So why did the District trust these untrained people with the students?  Why did the parents trust these untrained teachers with their children?

Where will all the good, new, trained teachers come from?

Maybe LAUSD will once again begin recruiting teachers from other countries.

Or maybe they will continue to give teachers pink slips, raise class sizes, and then there will be enough teachers for every classroom, particularly with enrollment continuing to decline.
