With the weather finally starting to warm up and Edwin nearly six months old, we've decided to upgrade his stroller. We have been using the Snap N Go, a very simple and lightweight contraption that you snap the car seat into and go on your merry way (get it?) I love the Snap N Go for many reasons: it is lightweight, it doesn't have a bunch of unnecessary crap hanging off it, and it is plain black in color. This last fact may be the most important.
After exhaustive research on the subject, we decided on the Maclaren Triumph. This is a lightweight umbrella stroller (that all the celebs use, by the way). It's a good fit for the hip, urban mom with a small house and no garage. I don't plan on running marathons or going off-roading with my son, so a big, bulky stroller seems unnecessary.
Once we decided on the Maclaren, the easy part was over and the real deliberation began. I am slightly embarrassed to admit how much time I spent agonizing over what color stroller to buy. I am neutral color kind of gal, especially when it comes to baby gear. I have a strong aversion to baby gear that looks like, well, baby gear. So, it was down to the gray or the navy. My thought process went something like this:
- Edwin does look good in navy. It really brings out his eyes.
- But the gray matches our car.
- Wait, are those straps on the gray one fluorescent green?
- Also, the gray may clash with my chic trench coat.
- Better go with the navy; it matches all my outfits!
My husband then pointed out that in the middle of a Baltimore summer, the navy may absorb too much heat. Oh, right. I had completely forgotten that this purchase was actually for Edwin, and not just an accessory for me to push around the city.
As it turns out, the navy was sold out so we went with the gray after all. I'll just tell everyone that I chose gray because I thought it would absorb less heat, and therefore would be more comfortable for my baby in the summer. Note to self: buy chic trench coat in gray.
