Merlin's final outfit/Bravo

On the last episode of “The Fashion ShowReco was left hanging by a thread, while Haven was given the boot. Now, with only 6 designers left the competition is even tougher. Here’s the recap from the July 1 episode.

For the Harper’s Bazaar mini challenge, the designers were challenged to design loungewear to go with a robe in 90 minutes. They were being judged on luxury, comfort, and style. None of the designers did that great if you ask me. Anna was the winner and her loungewear design will be sold at Saks Fifth Avenue.

Before the elimination challenge, the designers were taken for a tarot reading. Johnny drew “six of swords” and it symbolized that he was “going somewhere.” Reco drew the “four of pentacles” and was told to “let go of restraint.” Daniella picked the “six of pentacles” and was told to live on her “own uniqueness.” James-Paul drew the “high priestess” and was told to “listen to his inner voice.” Anna drew the “four of cups” and the psychic said she had a “good chance.” Merlin drew the same card as Johnny and it symbolized competition and that Merlin was also “going somewhere”.

For the elimination challenge, the designers had to create a look that captured the meaning of the tarot card they selected. At the fashion show, Merlin’s sweatsuit inspired outfit was kind of weird. It didn’t look comfortable at all and I don’t wear my sweats with heels. Reco’s suit was a hit for me. I liked the white darting and I loved the jacket. I could have gone with another shirt, but it worked with the suit. I liked the colors Anna used in her dress, but the pleating on the bottom of the dress too much. Daniella’s look got two thumbs down from me. I didn’t like the colors or the top. I had no words for James-Paul’s design. What is with the bubble of fabric on the booty all the time?!? Johnny’s design was cute. I liked the color scheme and the one shoulder effect.

When the designers got to judging they learned which designs were the best and which were the worst. Anna and Reco had the top designs of the week. The judges thought Anna’s design “got all the elements right”. They thought Reco’s design was “chic” and “modern.” Anna’s design earned top billing for the week and a version of her design was available for sale on Bravotv.com. The designers that were in the bottom were Merlin and James-Paul. The judges thought Merlin was too busy and that he pushed it “over the edge.” The judges thought James-Paul’s design wasn’t functional, but Merlin’s tarot reading was right and he was going somewhere –home!
