On episode 8 of Biggest Loser Season 8 the contestants flew to Washington, DC where they found out they would be visiting the White House and they would now be competing as individuals.

For the pop challenge the contestants had to help people change their lives by recruiting as many people as possible to come to the Washington Monument.  The contestants brought a lot of people, but it came down to Liz and Allen who were only separated by 1 vote.  The southern belle pulled out a win despite Allen calling in the DC fire department.  After everyone worked out with Bob and Jillian, Liz's team was treated to Subway

Then, the contestants met with State Senators to discuss childhood obesity.  Daniel shared his personal struggle with childhood obesity.  Rebecca was emotional sharing her story of being 234 lbs at the age of 14.

For the immunity challenge, they had to get through 4 phases.  For phase 1 they had to run 1 mile around Constitution Gardens and only 6 contestants would move on to the next phase.  It was an emotional challenge for many of the contestants since they were barely able to complete 1 mile their first day on the ranch and Tracey wound up in the hospital.  Since Liz won the pop challenge she earned the right to skip 1 of the phases.  She did not use her pass on phase 1.  Rebecca, Daniel, Allen, Amanda, Rudy and Liz moved on to phase 2.

For phase 2 they had to round up 17,954 pennies which represented the total amount of weight lost on Biggest Loser to date.  They had to gather pennies on the bottom steps of the Washington Monument and then race up the stairs to put them in a bin.  Four players would move on to the next phase.  Liz decided to use her "skip one", so she was automatically allowed to move on to phase 3.  Rudy and Daniel were the first contestants to secure their spot in phase 3, but it was a tight race between Rebecca and Allen.  Rebecca beat Allen by a handful.

For phase 3, the contestants had to stand on a platform holding a Pilates ball over their head.  The two contestants who held the position the longest would move on to the final phase.  Daniel was the first person out followed by Liz making Rudy and Rebecca the final two.

Rudy and Rebecca entered the final phase fighting for immunity.  The contestants were faced with a good old fashioned aerobic step.  The first person to take 206 steps, which represented the total number of contestants on the Biggest Loser to date, would win immunity.  Rebecca got a 30 step lead and she never lost it.  She won immunity.

Then, the contestants went to the White House where they met Sam Kass, the Assistant Head Chef to the President and First Lady Obama, and they picked fresh vegetables from Michelle Obama's personal garden.  The Obama's garden is the first garden on the White House grounds since Eleanor Roosevelt's   in the 1930s.

Here are the results of the first individual weigh-in.
