The other day I finally visited Huynh, a well-regarded Vietnamese restaurant on the other side of Highway 59 from the George R. Brown Convention Center. Alison Cook in the Chronicle raved about it earlier in the year. It's catercorner from the Kim Phung Mall in where I occasionally shop and pick up a great sandwich from Hoang Son. This is the in original Chinatown, and is part of the recently christened EaDo. My lunch from Huynh was enjoyable, the staff friendly and accommodating, prices quite affordable, and the setting inviting enough, reasons to encourage a future visit.
Another reason is its very customer-friendly BYOB policy. You can bring your own beer or wine for only a $1.50 fee per diner; a great deal, making for an even more wallet-friendly dinner.
