In a response to John McCain’s remark comparing Barack Obama to a lightweight celebrity like Paris Hilton or Britney Spears; Paris Hilton came back with her own response. In her own video she said: “Thanks for the endorsement, white-hared dude. I want to America to know that I’m like, totally ready to lead.” She has her own energy policy which she described in her video:

Her plan is to drill off-shore and provide tax incentives for Detroit to start making hybrid cars: “The off-shore drilling carries us until the new technologies kick in which will then create new jobs and energy independence.”

Something the other candidates haven’t talked about is to poor financial condition of our domestic car makers. We are expecting them to create a new generation of environmentally clean automobiles, but I don’t see where they are going to get the money to make the huge investments that will be required. Our auto companies are going to need some government help.

So who has the best energy policy for America:

•    A – Barack Obama

•    B – John McCain

•    C – Paris Hilton

Energy policy is probably going to be the biggest single issue in the upcoming election. Not only in the Presidential race, but also in congressional races, gasoline prices and energy policy may decide a lot of contests.

We need to continue to develop our existing energy supplies while we invest in alternative energy for the future. We can’t just shutdown or ignore our current energy requirements and we can’t ignore global warming and the need to develop clean energy sources for the future. Paris Hilton gets it. I believe that the average voter in this country gets it. The question is whether we will get a president and congress that also get it.
