US WEEKLY: even celebs need style help

I love the optimism of New Year's Day. The first day of a new year always feels like a clean slate, ripe with excitement and possibility...and after the roller coaster year we just had, we could all use a fresh start!

I applaud anyone who sees today as an opportunity to examine their life and resolve to make 2009 the best it can be, both personally and professionally.

As you think about the various areas of your life that need attention, I encourage you to think about your wardrobe and consider the role that clothing plays in your daily routine. Ask yourself these questions:

Do I like my clothes? (seems like a silly question, but how many of us can honestly say Yes?)

Do I feel confident when I leave the house every morning, because I know I look good? (because everyone deserve to feel that way everyday)

Will my wardrobe help me get ahead? Am I reflecting the best possible image to my co-workers, clients, bosses and friends? (or do your clothes say, "I don't care"?)

Do I feel anxiety about getting dressed in the morning, and/or do I spend longer than 5 minutes putting an outfit together? (in the scheme of things, getting dressed should be very low-stress)

Do I waste a lot of money on clothes that I never wear? (how many items in your closet still have the price tags attached?)

Do I have a good grasp of what looks good on me? Do I know what colors and styles are most flattering? (or is your closet full of pieces that might look better on someone else?)

Am I stuck in a rut? Do I shop at the same stores and buy the same things over and over? (many of us default to a "uniform" that is simple, yet unexciting, and don't know how to break the cycle to try new things).

If you think your style could use an upgrade in 2009, I highly encourage you to seek the help of a personal wardrobe stylist. Just like a professionlal interior designer can revamp your home or a professional personal trainer can resculpt your body, a professional stylist can help you purge your closet of everything that's been weighing you down and help you create the signature personal style you deserve.

Happy New Year!
