Make Mom's Day Special

May 9, 9:57 AM

Last year, I had a brief moment with my dad. It was about mom. That moment turned into a poem for my mom ~ an amazing woman who teaches me, makes me laugh and loves me unconditionally.

Us mom's are truly simple and sappy. If you want to make your mom's day unique, take a poem or a quote or a silly/special moment and write about it. Give it to her in a nice frame, add too many kisses and hugs, and she'll be happy. Trust me. Showing her that you recognize and cherish those times with her will cause her heart to swell with joy.

If you're not the poet, here are some links to help you create the perfect card - famous poems, quotes and sayings about mothers, photos, etc. Choose one that reminds you of her.

To all mothers:  you are blessed to be mothers. May your day be filled with love, no dishes and no laundry.

To my mom:

Isn’t She

Softly worn, cracked it fell from his wallet.
Isn’t she beautiful? he muttered …
your mother, isn’t she beautiful?

Brush stroked cream and flawless,
her skin, in spite of the photo’s tattered age.

My mother’s hands, recreated on my being,
cradle the photo of a young woman stilled in a flash.
Shadows unable to settle over the years;
they wouldn’t dare hinder the too-large smile and bastion laugh.
My eyes like hers, Mona Lisa caramel,
filled with light and a mischievous inflection …
Yes, she is beautiful.

Seasons see all, weather all, forgive none.
An albatross anchored in the mind.
Yet time failed to whisper her name;
a figurine frozen in pose.

Isn’t she beautiful? he muttered …
your mother, isn’t she beautiful? …
Yes, dad, she’s beautiful … still.

Advice From Dear Old Mom

May 7, 9:40 AM
One fine day during my older brother’s tenth year on this good earth, he stormed into the house, hands balled into fists, face flushed in anger over yet another wrong doing by the neighborhood bully and sputtering over and over again, he mumbled,... Read More
