The Annenberg Community Beach House, a new public facility is holding a public opening today from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. The new facility is on the site of the former Marion Davis-William Randolph Hearst estate.

Aquatic performers from Cirque du Soleil's "O" the kicked off the days festivities with a short performece in the historic tiled pool designed by architect Julia Morgan.

Many activities such as vollyball and beach tennis clinics will be available along with kite flying, sand sculpting demenstration and a ballroom dance competition.

There is no need for a reservation or memebership. And the city suggests all guests pack a picnic or pre-order a lunch from Fred Deni's Back on Broadway Cafe.
