MotorCity Power Sports on Telegraph

We've talked about looking for scooters in your local Craigslist, but this time let's look at finding safety gear bargains locally. Have you considered shopping at your local power sports dealer?

I've been to MotorCity Power Sports probably a half-dozen times. I've been looking at scooters, shopping for 2T oil and helmet visors, and just hanging out. They are primarily a motorcycle store (all the usual brands), and offer Honda and Yamaha scooters. Watercraft and ATV's also seem to be a large part of their business. They also have a large service operation and a pretty well-stocked parts and accessories area - probably four rooms full. They have a massive amount of safety gear. It seems like hundreds of jackets of all styles and colors line the walls. It's a bit overwhelming, as many of the jackets were of the "premium" variety. As a long-time bargain shopper, I was a little intimidated by the sight of three and four hundred dollar jackets, no matter how nice they were. They had a bunch of helmets as well, colors and styles for everyone including kids.

Awe$ome new Honda SH150i

I recently traced a problem with the rear wheel/tire balance of my Kymco Agility 125. It was getting so bad it was hard to ride at anything over 40 MPH. I was having trouble finding a shop to either try to balance it or mount my Zippy 1 (from Motorsport Scooters). On a whim, I took it by MotorCity Power Sports. I waited in line for a minute or two and soon found the tire and wheel whisked out of my hands, with a friendly "no problem". As I was waiting, I noticed that the place had a lot of items on sale. Some of the sale items were the very same ones that I had noticed on my earlier visits. The difference now was that the prices seemed remarkable. The discounts were large, and they still had an amazing selection. I found myself talking to parts and accessory salesperson Liz who commented that yes, the prices are good and they are trying to make sure that they have something for everyone. After a few minutes talking with Liz, they called my name and my wheel was ready. They had to put a large amount of weight on the wheel to balance it, but it was back to the same old flickable sporty scoot with the weights. I must have the ONLY Kymco wheel that is that far out of balance...

Quality helmets on sale

I returned to MotorCity Power Sports last weekend and spoke with Linda Royer, their parts and accessory manager. She echoed what Liz told me about having something for everyone, and she was right. I noticed that they had mesh jackets, leathers and helmets on sale. The place was crowded with happy shoppers and I was impressed. In this economy, having happy shoppers is something. I think that part of the fun at MotorCity Power Sports comes from their policy of having a huge variety of motorcycles, ATVs, scooters and safety gear (on sale!) and delivering excellent service. It seems that they have a lot of happy customers, including me.
