The Beau-Rivage Palace is a historical luxury hotel in Lausanne, Switzerland located on the shores of Lake Geneva. The original part of this magnificent beachside hotel opened in 1861, designed in Art Déco and neo-baroque style. The hotel consists of 169 individually decorated guest rooms, including 29 suites and 23 deluxe rooms.
The Beau-Rivage Palace was also cemented in history when in 1923; the Treaty of Lausanne was signed in the great ballroom. Over the decades it has been a hideaway where dignitaries, royalty and Hollywood’s elite come to relax; enjoy the Swiss-French lifestyle and hotel amenities such as gastronomy and spa rituals.
Room 450- a corner room on the top floor was where I would gleefully call home for nearly a week, and was actually rethinking my return home after I turned the key and walked into my room’s “foyer”. A massive 800 square foot suite comprised of all the great things that make a hotel room feel like a home.
Oh how I felt like I had stepped back into time, and imagined I was a princess and this was my perfect room. I walked through my suite’s living area, down a hallway with massive closets, then into my marble bathroom complete with a tub for four, Bvlgari bath products and heated towel rack.
As I stepped onto my balcony over looking the hotel grounds and Lake Geneva, I let out a joyful yelp. Heaven.
I will admit that I am spoiled being a travel journalist, seriously spoiled. I have been to the best of the best hotels in the world, and completely comfortable with 6 star accommodations.
My room at the Beau-Rivage Palace however was really something special; as I looked around, there was no detail left undone without simplistic elegance-- precious antiques, beautiful linens, a fireplace, French doors, and views, views, views.(1).jpg)
