Do not worry if your dog walks through doorways
before you, this will not happen because of that

In a research study highlighted in Science Daily, the common, ridiculous beliefs about "being the pack leader"  and other misguided philosophies and techniques commonly regurgitated by viewers of the Dog Whisperer were found to be misguided and inneffective.

As highlighted in the Science Daily article:

The study shows that dogs are not motivated by maintaining their place in the pecking order of their pack, as many well-known dog trainers preach.

Far from being helpful, the academics say, training approaches aimed at “dominance reduction” vary from being worthless in treatment to being actually dangerous and likely to make behaviours worse.

I could happily quote the entire article here, but you should really do yourself and your dog some good by reading the article for yourself.

It is well written, logical and clearly explains why so many common beliefs are unwarranted and often harmful.
