On March 5, you can watch "A Powerful Noise," the documentary produced by Sheila C. Johnson (of BET fame) at either Pacific Place in Seattle or Bella Botega in Redmond.
"A Powerful Noise" is the story of 3 women from different countries and how they make a difference in their communities regarding HIV/AIDs, education for girls, and uniting ethnic divisions.
There is a panel discussion broadcast after the movie that includes commentary from former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine K. Albright, actor and activist Natalie Portman, CARE president and CEO Dr. Helene Gayle; CARE advocate Christy Turlington Burns; and Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Nicholas Kristof.
I saw a clip of this film last summer with an introduction by Sheila Johnson, and I can't wait to see the entire documentary.
Round up some of your friends and make it to one of the screenings in our area. This will be a powerful event.
