Tricia Sawyer Beauty is gorgeous personified

In honor of my west coast vacation this year to California, I've decided to mix it up a bit and feature one of my favorite up & coming beauty brands from the other coast: LA based Tricia Sawyer Beauty. Recommended to me by a very close and dear friend (and wonderfully talented makeup artist) Jose, I contacted Ms. Sawyer to get the inside scoop on her new venture and she very graciously provided me with a few products to take out for a test drive.

Who is she??

Tricia Sawyer, a 20 year veteran of the film makeup industry, has worked with not only some of the biggest names in Hollywood, but also one of the biggest in the beauty world, Prescriptives, as Creative Director. After her four year stint with the company, she took her act solo and dived into researching and crafting her own unique beauty brand, a brand which would meld her remarkable knowledge of makeup with her remarkable understanding of how to help woman look their best both on camera, and off.

Although still a boutique line, research and development is a constant process and new products are being introduced into the lineup rapidly. And, Tricia has an amazing array of unique extras at her website, triciasawyer.com. To help you get the most out of your new products, Tricia has created TriciaSawyer.tv - free, online tutorials on how to apply foundation, create a smoky eye, and more. And finally, for aspiring makeup divas who are interested in exploring career options, Tricia offers on-site makeup classes at her studio in LA ranging from bridal makeup all the way to makeup as a career. Prices vary so check the website for more details. You can find Tricia Sawyer Beauty at triciasawyer.com; on QVC; and a small selection of products at Sephora.com.

Why should you?

Why should you use her products?  It would be too simple to merely say they work (and they do), too cliched to say they are amazing (and they are), and too ridiculous to say I couldn't stop touching my cheek after I applied the Skin Balancing Water Primer (and I couldn't)!  A better reason would be for me to simply tell you that this carefully crafted line of makeup and accessories is multi-tasking, highly user friendly, and on trend in every way! Pigments are deep yet blendable; formulations feature the latest ingredients yet aren't overly complicated; and colors are fresh and dynamic. Like your favorite shampoo or perfume, Tricia Sawyer Beauty is destined to earn a coveted spot in your daily beauty routine.

Here they are

Tricia Sawyer Beauty offers a carefully selected palette of eye shadows, eyeliners, brow pencils, blush, lip gloss, powder, foundation, face primer, eye brightener,  Essential Palettes, brushes and accessories.  Products feature skin-friendly ingredients such as shea butter, aloe, cotton, cocoa butter, beeswax, sodium PCA and titanium dioxide and brushes are hand-crafted with wood handles and both natural and synthetic hairs. My favorite product so far? The Essential Palette: a quad of four, perfectly neutral eyeshadows that flatter all skin tones, housed in a gorgeous compact that was handmade by a book binder and has a full-sized mirror.

A few other favorites include:

Skin Balancing Water Primer: Lightweight, refreshing and with the most wonderful smell, the Skin Balancing Water Primer is suitable for all skin types and provides a tissue-thin base on the skin for foundation. Crafted with aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, dimethicone and sodium PCA, the formula glides onto the skin smoothly and helps lock moisture next to the skin, keeping foundation fresh and vibrant all day.

Full Potential Foundation: To be completely honest, I'm not much of a foundation girl. I've tried dozens, wear a few and mostly - just can't be bothered because I intensely dislike the feeling of foundation on my skin. Happily for me, and for the dozens of other women out there who I know feel the same, I liked this foundation. A lot.  It smoothed out my skintone, blended seamlessly and left behind no tell-tale sensation. Full Potential Foundation is also unique from just about any other foundation I have tried in that it gives you two shades in each compact so that you may mix the two for an exact, perfect match to your skintone.

Eye Slept: Creamy, marshmallowy-white, and ridiculously useful, Eye Slept is an under-eye brightner for those days when you are feeling tired or lagging, and your face needs a little pick-me-up. Dab underneath the eye and anywhere else on the face that needs a bit of extra-zing the day after the night before.

Clearly Pretty Lip Gloss: Clear, pretty - this sheer, smooth lipgloss goes on crystal clear and transforms on the lips into the most gorgeous shade of fresh summer raspberries. Get it. You will be addicted! It's the adult-version of my favorite makeup product as a kid: mood lipstick!

The latest, and coolest, addition to the line is the Brow Define Automatic Pencil with Refills, an ultra-slim, mechanical brow pencil with long-last pigments that resist fading or perspiration.  Even better, the pencils are non-sharpening, and come with two refills.
