Free dental, medical, and vision care to Angelenos. Doctors, dentists and nurses are volunteering their services. These services are being provided for by Remote Area Medical, a charity organization. The mobile medical clinic is here for two more days. It is a volunteer run service, going on now, until August 18. The free, eight-day clinic ran from Aug.11 through 18, starting at 5:30 a.m. daily.
Some of the planned services include: dental cleanings, eye exams, mammograms and adult physicals. The health fair included 45 medical exam rooms, 100 dental stations and 25 eye exam stations.
Care will be provided on a first-come and first-serve basis and does not require any proof of income or insurance.
The underinsured and uninsured are welcomed to come during the time the service is being offered to Los Angeles residents.
A total of 1,500 tickets were handed out the first day of the clinic. More will be distributed but time is reduced now.
Remote Area Medical has several more planned medical fairs in different parts of the country. The next one will be as follows: August 22-26 RAM Utah in Fort Duchesne, UT, Northern Ute Tribes Reservation.
