Some would say it was a good security keeping Blanket under wraps. Actively protecting his family's privacy by keeping most portions of his children's life "secret", can be an earmark of wisdom. When making a risk assessment, one would have to take into account the risk of kidnapping, abduction, ransom incidents and the like, not to mention the general climate of terroism that now clouds even the United States, it is no wonder that most of us hardly if ever got of a clear glimpse of Michael's children.
The fame of Michael Jackson came with a special array of security issues. Michael Jackson's disguises served as a sort of firewall or target denial. Whether from paranoia or from the advice of security proferssionals, either way, his impoliteness about his identify and his children's was effective.
In self-defense one learns and practice skills that are normally not considered polite, moral, or appropriate for general use. But if youre Michael Jackson (or someone like Charles Lindbergh) your physical well-being and that of your family and/or loved ones are a constant concern, and use of subskills and weird security measures are justified.
Privacy can be defined: the condition under which an individual has the power to choose what information to disclose to whom, without pressure or duress.
Secrecy: The condition in which someone refuses to disclose certain information to certain parties..usually because they are prying. In a more perfect world we would rarely (if ever) need to keep secrets. People would respect our privacy and mind their own business. Unfortunately such is not the status quo in a world where a relative few are icons, and this is not a perfect world.
Personally and in retrospect, I would say the "King of Pop" was justified in his practice of secrecy and keeping his children cloaked as he did.
