Whats goin on Examiners! I'm back with a new edition of the "Morning After Review". This time I decided to check out an up and coming monthly event at a better known Chicago venue The Funky Buddha Lounge. Welcome to Reality Rap. This evening was presented by the fine fashionable folks at PRSVR, make sure you check them out they definitely have a lot goin on here in Chicago.

I've been to the Funky Buddha plenty of times, but honestly I've never been there on a Friday so I really didn't know what to expect. The doors open at 9PM  but like any other true VIP I strolled in about 11:15PM. Even tho thats still kinda early for a Friday night event I was pretty surprised at the crowd.  This event took over both parts of the club the regular Funky Buddha and the adjacent Butterfly Social Club. Which gave plenty of room, plenty of bars, and two different parties at once.

I was really shocked at how diverse the crowd was considering it was themed as a live hip-hop event, but then again in Chicago you can't really put a face on the hip hop demographic. Mingling in the crowd pretty much everybody felt good about the event even talking to two young ladies by the name of Ebonne and Rosaline they mention how it's sometimes awkward at diverse events but that the atmosphere at (Reality Rap) made it easy to be social. Plus the tons of drink specials they had and $100 bottle specials probably helped as well.

DJ Reality provided the soundtrack for the evening and I must say he definitely kept it moving, playing a little bit of everything from the commercial music, to old school hip hop, even threw in a little Katie Perry.  The only downer for the evening was the abrupt mixes kinda killed the mood a little bit on some of my favorite songs, but that was a minor infraction. I was expecting a performance by up and coming hip hop artist Tekh Togo, but due to scheduling conflicts it didn't happen. A minor negative but DJ Reality definitely held my attention and i guess no performance kept the party going smoothly.

Taking in the whole evening, the host Mr. Williamson from PRSVR, the venue, the atmosphere, all the lovely ladies in the building, the music. I will give "Reality Rap" 4 out of 5 stars which is a gold star in my book. This is a once a month event but I'm think we need to bring out the petition to make this thing happen once a week. I'll definitely be back, and would recommend this a must attend spot to start off your weekend right.
