For those who adore masquerade, bike rides, or just seek to wring the most out of the upcoming holiday weekend, the search stops here. A Halloween Costume Ride on Staten Island is open to one and all who want to get the most thrills for their chills this fall season.
On Friday, October 23, ghoulies, ghosties, long-legged beasties, things that go bump in the night, and riders of all ages will meet at 7:00 pm at Von Briesen Park (the foot of Bay Street at Fort Wadsworth). We will ride as a group along Bay Street and end at Karl's Klipper (40 Bay Street, not far from the ferry) for the after-party, beginning approximately 8:30 PM. A $5 cover at the door includes complimentary food, as well as access to $2 Budweiser and various drink specials. The ride itself is free.
Costumes are strongly encouraged, as these events are traditionally more fun and photogenic when everyone is dressed up, but also keep practicality in mind. Make sure mummy bandages won't get caught in the chain; bring safety pins for vampire capes; if coming as “Jon and Kate,” it is advised to leave the eight baby dolls (or other accessories) at home until the Village Halloween Parade-- or else bring a bag.
