As it's Friday, all your preparations for the big weekend should already be in place. Consider this your last chance at spooky, scary Halloween wines that are worth seeking out:
Velvet Devil Merlot- From Washington State, this wine should come in around $12. a bottle. Good mix of juicy fruits, smoky on the palate. Deep, dark, purply red. Generally not a big fan of merlots but this one is worth a shot.
Spellbound Petite Sirah- Complete with a three-quarter moon on the label, this wine should price out around $15. a bottle. Intense wine, bright flavor, earthy tannins, plum and blueberry. An easy drinker.
Pinot Evil- French Pinot Noir with strong cherry aromas and decent, long finish. Light to medium-bodied. Smooth, though not particularly complex. Cool label, featuring the three see-no-evil, hear-no-evil, speak-no-evil monkeys. Should come in around $7. - $9. a bottle.
Wicked Wines ('Lust' and 'Envy')- Not exactly top-shelf, these Australian wines are made for--among other things--just plain fun. The Lust Fruity White Tingle is sweet and fruity, with a tingle on the tongue. Envy, the Wicked White Shiraz is predictably fresh, fruity and sweet. Low acidity, both are easy-drinkers.
Enjoy your holiday! Take lots of pictures, and drink lots of good, scary wines!
