For many summer is associated with the wonderful barley and hops infused beverage we call beer. Another great natural resource of Colorado are the brews that come out of it. Beer events are a staple in the west, and here are a few to attend...

Beer Events:

7/18 Breckenridge Beer Festival - Breck has appeal for the masses, voted as Ski Magazine’s most popular ski resort in the February 2009 issue there is no doubt the options for socializing and drinking are a part of the pull. The Beer Festival will feature big beer guns like Flying Dog Brewery, Left Hand Brewing Company and even Sam Adams will show up to brew some barley pops. Lodging discounts can be found with ResortQuest for as low as $75. When the heat is on you can get your drink on.

8/8 BrewGrass , Denver Old South Pearl Street – Seems Colorado has a fetish for Bluegrass and Beer, because yet another option presents itself to take advantage of the magical combination of string instruments and brew haha. This one is a little closer for the city folk, and has equal parts music and equal parts breweries, featuring over 10 vendors and performers for each respective activity. A fun filled day shouldn’t lead to having to designate a driver; everyone can have their fill and ride the light rail to Louisiana-Pearl Station.

8/14-8/16 Bohemian Nights at NewWestFest 2009, Fort Collins – Keywords; free, beer gardens and music. Yes, Fort Collins will host a slue of big namers such as Melissa Ethridge and more than 40 additional bands. Ethnic cuisine and plenty of kids’ activities will be available, this festival will be more than just a beer fest, but with six breweries in one town no doubt this will be a highlight.

8/15 Learn to Brew with CFU, Wynkoop brewery – For the true coinsure of beer, Wynkoop brewery will offer their master brewer Andy Brown, to coax eager beer advocates to learn the rewarding process of beer brewing. Registry is mandatory, the course is open to the public for $56 and includes tasting and food. It falls on a Wednesday so if channel surfing and couch sitting is the weekday plan, Wynkoop gives you the opportunity to do something different through the week.
