The Associated Press reports that Comorian protesters Friday blocked an entrance to Terminal 3 at Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport. The protesters were trying to keep passengers off a Yemenia Airways flight to the Comoros Islands.
The protestors were expressing their anger over what they say are horrible conditions that passengers have endured on flights to Comoros, including being forced to stand during the duration of flights. They are also upset that it took a fatal crash of a Yemenia Airways jet to get people to pay attention to their complaints.
A Yemenia Airways Airbus A310 crashed Tuesday while trying to land at the airport which serves the Comoros capital, Moroni. Only one of the 153 passengers survived the accident.
The protesters tried to discourage passengers from boarding Friday's flight, which departed the airport several hours late. The plane left with 72 passengers instead of the 180 originally booked for the flight.
