It pays to advertise! This is not a secret, nor has it ever been.

Although we may Tivo over certain annoying commercials, we love to be marketed to just as much as we hate to be marketed to.

While many contemporary ads garner the scorn of their targets, there is a romanticism with antique and vintage advertising items.

Among the most popular advertising collectibles have been antique advertising crates, boxes and containers.

Decorators and collectors alike find that these can be re-purposed as extra shelf space in pantries, recipe boxes and attractive kitchen utensil catch-alls.

The slide show presentation below includes 10 American favorites and their going prices.

In what ways might you be using one?
