 eBay announcements predictions from AuctionWally

It's no surprise to anyone in selling circles that eBay is expected to release big news on Tuesday regarding upcoming changes to the platform, we've known it was coming for weeks.

Just about everyone who's ever sold anything, anywhere, has an opinion on what changes eBay will make, here's mine.

  • They'll roll out free listings for some sellers which will bring about either the installment of higher back end fees OR you'll see more 3rd party ads competing with your listing to foot the bill, or both.
  • eBay bucks, it's new coupon type buying incentive will be promoted.
  • They'll trigger some kind of hybrid voodoo, quasi-nuclear physics/time-shifting event to alter our perception of what we think of the much hated, confusing DSR system. But it will continue.
  • John Donahoe will NOT ask for Federal bail-out money, but he will bum change off the door guy for use in the Coke machine, oh yes, there will be scandal to report.
  • We may see eBay taking over more of the jobs that 3rd party apps are now providing. They've recently done so with pictures and I think we'll see more of this.
  • Skype will not be mentioned.
  • Unfortunately customer support is never big on eBay's announcement list and I'm afraid I don't have faith it will take a high spot this time either. (This is the one I most hope they prove me to be wrong on)
  • It will not announce plans to segment auctions vs. fixed price sales.
  • Search engine improvement and tweaks will be touted.
  • eBay will allow all sellers to easily opt out of using PayPal. However it's fixed so that the next time you log in, a ray shoots from your monitor to laser tattoo, the "Use PayPal" button in the center or your forehead. The standard PayPal Orange will be the default color, but for a fee you can get it altered. Removal will not be an option.
  • To boost it's image, it will hire the nicest online radio host, Danna Crawford of  http://powersellingmom.com/  to some very respectable position in the company, thereby offsetting many cardnial sins.

Well that's it. Which if any am I right about? Dunno, but why not review it with is on Wednesday evening as I'll sit on a phone panel with friends at the online radio show, The River, The Ranch and The Bay at http://www.talkshoe.com/tc/34406
