Strength in numbers for antiques dealers

Antiques sellers unite! I've always wondered why there wasn't a national association of antiques dealers who've gotten together to pool resources to promote the antiques business in a mass marketing campaign.

Each dealer is a small independent seller and no matter how successful they can be on their own there is strength in numbers.  No one knows this better than the U.S. dairy farmer with it's "Got Milk?" campaign.

So why wouldn't antiques dealers want the same?  Well the truth is for years I've heard this idea thrown around but no one has ever taken on this project in any kind of a meaningful way...until now.

I'm happy to announce that Julie Law has started AVCOSA, (Antiques Vintage Collectibles Online Seller Association) to do just this. She's taken on the monumentalous job of helping us all get organized in ways to better promote our genre.

With the stock market falling, and the economy in trouble it's no surprise that the antiques, collectibles and used items markets are heating up furiously. It has always been that way when economic times are bad. People look for tangible investments that they know to be safer than many of the volatile stocks they are used to putting their money into, after all, the value of an antique will never drop to zero as can happen with a stock or bond.

Also know dear reader, that overall antiques and collectibles have been the most profitable and safest long term investments throughout history.

I'm sure that those who have a need for to become involved in an organization like AVCOSA  will have a lot of questions.

Rather than further address them here, I'm embedding the player with the recent episode of the AuctionWally Show which includes the interview with Julie Law the President of the organization.
