Marvel Comics may have sold out to Disney, but there's an auction going on right now that's no Mickey Mouse production.
(The slide show below this article has been updated to include the prices realized for all the lots pictured)
As I write this, session 1 of the Mound City Auctions, Silver Age comic book auction is live now, and the bidding action is pretty heavy.
Since the auction is posted Online, you can bid right from your home. There will be on-site bidding at the Ameristar Casino in St. Charles, MO
The double session auction features over 3,000 comic books, over 1,000 CGC graded books, including rare vintage Silver Age and Bronze Age titles, such as Amazing Spider Man, The Avengers, The Flash, Action Comics, Detective Comics, Batman, Amazing Fantasy, Wonder Woman, Strange Tales, The Brave and The Bold, Showcase, Daredevil, The Incredible Hulk, The Invincible Iron Man, Tales To Astonish, Justice League of America, Captain America, Adventure Comics, Green Lantern, and many many more. There are many key issues and many books have been graded by the CGC. Many of the books are the very best copy known to exist anywhere on Earth. This auction will be on iCollector.
If you miss out on session 1, Session 2 is being held on Nov 02 @ 10:00Auction Local Time (UTC-6 : CST/MDT) and @ 08:00Pacific Time
Right out of the gate, lot #1 was The Daredevil no1, sold strong. (See the slide show price report for details)
See the slide show below for lot details. I've only included 2 lots from session 1, the rest of the photos are all from session 2. The key comic in the slideshow, and the one that has my attention, is Amazing Fantasy no. 15, which has a CGC grade of 8.0 with off white pages. It's estimated to be worth between $30,000-$50,000. The reason being is that this is the first appearance of Spider-man.
Lot #869 is The Amazing Spider-man #1 estimated to be worth $10,000- $20,000.00.
