Investment quality art comes to the auction block on October 27th, courtesy of Montefiore Auction House in Tel Aviv.
The works include 291 lots by that of Israeli and International artists of superior talent, in a array of disciplines.
As widely expected in the world of fine arts, collectibles and antiques, the economy is shaking loose works from private collections that which may not have otherwise come to light.
If you're as fascinated by some of these paintings as I am, and you are a distance from the auction, no worry that the auction is being held in Tel Aviv, Israel, because you can bid Online, now and during the auction.
See the slideshow below for pre-auction estimates and starting bid prices. (Warning: the slideshow contains several nudes for those who are offended by such matter.)
Among my favorites in the selection is the Abraham Fisher o/c titled "At the Flea Market". To me it captures all the excitement of the event, by magnificent use of colors. The gentleman in the overcoat denotes the seriousness of consideration. Is he pondering a possible purchase he passed on, or does he have something else on his mind? In the center is a subject whom is seems pensive about someone or something just spotted.
I'm not an art expert, I only know what I like, so I follow a few basic rules of them when considering a purchase of high quality work. Rule #1 is to look for effort expended by the artist. If we take that rule to heart, this auction satisfies greatly.
Some of the artists and works featured in the 291 lots are:
