Usually when you find something that's growing mold on it, it's not a good thing. But the auction world is full of unusual exceptions, here's one that deals with wine and cognac in Paris.
It seems the famous Tour d'Arget restaurant founded in 1582, had to do a little basement cleaning. During the process bottles of rare wine and cognac were unearthed, some of which were covered in black fungus. The fungus is harmless and can be wiped away easily, according to the chief sommelier David Ridgway.
The restaurant plans to put up some 18,000 bottles for auction in December. A decision that has captivated the attention of French wine aficionados.
