A steal when you consider the $5.2 million did include the B.P.

How many times have you heard the tired old saying, "an antique is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for it"?

What would you guess the value of the stool to the right is?

Do you think that Sotheby's the world famous auction house would know everything about antiques value?

Well, their estimate was $200,000/500,000, but world famous antiques collector Albert Sack, paid $5.2 million for it! (That included the buyer's premium.)

It's a carved walnut compass-seat stool, Philadelphia, circa 1750, and it just sold at Sotheby's in New York City on September 26.

Apparently, Albert Sack knows what many collectors know, gold and collectibles, love bad economic news.

Test your knowledge of antiques. Guess what the circa 1840-1860 silver-plate pitcher to the left is worth. Click on the link below the photo to see the full appraisal.
