Here is a report on what has sold well for me on eBay lately.
It's no secret that good things sell well, that's true whether your talking about eBay auctions or any other selling method. But how do you find enough stock to re-sell when you sell collectibles and antiques? After all, it's not like you can have them drop shipped or order them from a catelog. No worry, at the end of this price report, I'll be providing some information on how to locate good sources for eBay stock or stock to sell anywhere else.
The first item a gold High School ring, sold for $89.99. I know gold has been going through the roof, but here's the thing, it was 10kt gold. 6 months ago, I'd have been lucky to get $30 for a 10kt gold ring! The times they are a changin!
The next item is this wonderful vintage Vickers Microscope. The online marketplace has really helped along the Scientific and Medical collectibles categories. This sold for 72.23 and of course I started it at 99 cents. I believe if I would have tried to start it at $50.00 or so, that it would not have sold, or I may have gotten one bid. I have the "start it low and let it go" philosphy. Having been brought up in the business as an auctioneer this pricing strategy works best for me.
On August 17th this antique Eisenlohrs cigar sign finished at $76.53. I thought that was pretty good considering it wasn't in top condition.
It's enamel over steel, 12"x36", circa 1880s
OK, as I mentioned at the beginning of this article, I want to share some good information on how to keep your wagon full of good antiques and collectibles to sell. Today at 2PM EST I'll be covering this very topic on episode 26 of The Auctionwally Show. My online radio show, which covers antiques and collectibles. If you miss the show as it airs live, no worry, you can catch all the back episodes here in the archive.
