Here's a report on some of my recent eBay sales that have closed. The antique  postcards I've been selling have been doing very well. The one to the right ended at $69.99. As you can see it features a chorus of Dixie and Black Americans picking cotton in a field.

Early Black Americana is very collectible and has been for a long time. I remember when I was breaking into the business, being shocked at seeing  a large display of BA at an auction. I couldn't believe the auction house would sell such a collection of denegrating history out in the open.

That evening most of the winning bidders of those lots were African Americans. From that point on I've tried to never judge a collectible as anything other than a piece of history.

Also doing well was a card of the Cushing residence in Norwood MA at $24.00. You just never know what early postcards of private residences will do.

A Halloween card of a Pumpkin man went for $13.00, this surprised me as early Halloween collectibles usually fare quite a bit better. I expected at least $25 out of the card. I think it was a quirk that it sold so low.

I had a Gorham sterling silver Yo-Yo that ended at $34.00. That's right around what I expected as it had issues.

All of these auctions and my current auctions are linked here if you care to research them. I'll often research other people's successful and failing auctions, take the information I can use, suit it to my own needs and move of. Sometimes I'll even buy something, but I consider that a tuitition fee!

 Thanks for reading,

AW
