Specially-Marked PNY Flash Drive

Starting yesterday, PNY, one of the major manufacturers of flash and RAM memory, started a new kind of movie promotion.

When you purchase specially marked packages of their flash drives, or SD memory cards, you will get a code for a free movie download. The code is then entered into a special website, where you can download the movie. Once downloaded, you can watch the movie as many times as you want, but it can only be played on up to two different computers. All of the available movies are from Sony Pictures and includes titles like "The Di Vinci Code", "Hitch", plus 32 other films.

This is a move that brings some excitement into an otherwise uninteresting product category, since we all know that there's nothing sexy about buying flash memory. But everyone loves free stuff, and with PNY's aggressive pricing policy, you will probably find one of these products on sale. The specially marked packages will be stocked at a bunch of major retailers, including Best Buy, Staples, and Walmart. You can take a look at the free movie selection right now by logging onto www.pny.com/movies.
