If you are in a job search, you should visit Glassdoor.com, a career and workplace community where anyone can find and anonymously share salary details about specific jobs for specific employers or company and interview reviews describing life on the inside of an employer.
Their newest feature, Interview Questions & Reviews shares interview questions, hiring process details, difficulty ratings, and negotiating tips posted anonymously by other interview candidates whose users include Project Managers, Software Engineers, Sales and Marketing Professionals. Amongst the companies rated on the site are Booz Allen Hamilton, Wells Fargo, KPMG, Deloitte, Accenture and IBM.
At the time of this article there were 41 interivew questions posted by Project Managers with the majority of questions unanswered. Several answers posted were not necessarily the best response. However, the insight gained into the interview process and knowing the questions hiring managers are likely to ask is invaluable interview preparation.
The company reviews feature provides employees with a platform to express what they like and don't like about where they work in addition to providing feedback on the senior management team. You might find this information useful for determining the culture and values of corporations you are interested in applying to.
The salary feature only provides average salary information for specific companies by job title and location. You will need to navigate through the company name in order to search by location. There are better sites for salary information such as Indeed.com and Salary.com as well as the PMI Project Management Salary Survey, which members can purchase for as little as $20.
Glassdoor information is limited in that its content is provided by site visitors. To my knowledge there is no way to confirm the accuracy of the data. However, it is a good resource for finding out what employees think are the best companies to work for.
