Many Americans are angry with Congress and the President for bailing out various financial institutions, but Senator Charles Grassley (R-Iowa) took anger to a new level yesterday. In a statement directed at the AIG executives who used $165 million of taxpayer money for bonuses, Senator Grassley stated:
“I would suggest the first thing that would make me feel a little bit better toward them if they'd follow the Japanese example and come before the American people and take that deep bow and say, I'm sorry, and then either do one of two things: resign or go commit suicide.”
The Republican Senator's remarks were refering to corporate executives of the past who made apologies before stepping down and to the Japanese code of Bushido (seppuku).
