Rookie tight end John Nalbone, one of two of the Dolphins’ fifth-round selections in the April draft, signed a four-year deal for about $1.75 million on Thursday. He also gets a $173,000 signing bonus. This should be the first of a flurry of draft pick signings. There are eight more to go, including first-rounder, cornerback Vontae Davis.
About John Nalbone (click for link to Nalbone video talking about Dolphins' selection)

Size and speed: He’s 6 feet 4, 255 pounds and he ran a sub-4.6 40-yard dash when he worked out for several teams in advance of the draft, including the Dolphins.
In high school: He attended Lawrence High School in New Jersey and hoped to go to Rutgers but landed instead at Monmouth.
In college: He was a teammate of Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin. Nalbone started at tight end during all four seasons at Monmouth. He holds all of the school’s records for the position. He is Monmouth’s first NFL draft pick.
The numbers: Nalbone had 42 catches and five touchdowns as a senior and caught 101 passes for 1,079 yards in his college career.
Comparable to a Dolphin: He’s described by Brian Martin, who prepares players for the draft, on APP.com as an “Anthony Fasano type”. Martin said: “Bill Parcells loves those Jersey guys, and John is a true Jersey guy. He’s got that personality and swagger. He’s a very confident kid who believes in his ability.”
Major: Business Management
Age: He turned 23 on May 14 and he was redshirted for a season before starting games over four consecutive seasons so he has plenty of experience albeit at a lower level of football than most in the NFL.
What his agent Joe Linta said: "If he had gone to the [NFL] Combine he would've been in the top five athletically. I appreciate [vice president of football operations Bill Parcells and coach Tony Sparano] and their scouts for stepping up to the plate and taking a hard look at John.''
