Tis the Season...

And I don't mean Christmas!

While our weather may have been schizo this past week, the weather is indeed improving, which means yard sale and curb shopping season is upon us!  AKA deals of the century!

What?!  Curb shopping??

Yes!  Curb shopping!  It's what happens when people have yard sales.  Or rather, what happens after they have their sales.  About mid to late afternoon on Saturday and Sunday is the best time to curb shop.  People are done with their yard sales and put the leftovers out on the curb as FREE!

I've found some great stuff for free on the curbs...the cabinet that holds my biz stuff, our coffee table, the writing chest which serves as a TV stand and the set of metal mesh drawers that holds my folded clothes.

When you "curb shop," you might have an unexpected find in something that needs a coat of paint, some sanding, embellishments, reupholstering and so on, so look with an open mind.  Also look for ways you can use things for purposes other than their original one, such as I did with making the writing chest my TV stand!

A bookshelf can become a "cabinet" by hanging a tension rod and curtain to cover the shelving.  Curtains add color and style to a room.  You can also add hinges and cabinet doors to a bookshelf to make a more traditional cabinet.

So whether you are at a yard sale or curb shopping, shop with an open, creative mind.

What have YOU found at yard sales or curb shopping?  Did you re-purpose something for a fabulous new life?  Paint it?  Leave comment to share with us all!
