All is Green in Love and Dating

July 13, 10:14 PM

This post inspired by A Fresh Squeeze’s weekly eco-tip email. If you aren’t on AFS’s email list already, sign up! They give 1 awesome tip per week on something eco-lifestyle related for your local region. Even better, you can tell what the tip is about in the email subject so if it doesn’t pertain to your interest, you can delete it without ever wasting the time to open the email! I love that!

The inspirational tip was on eco-dating.  Since I’m in the business of styling sustainable love nests, it seems fitting to talk things related to life in the love lane!

According to a recent study done by DuPont and Mohawk,

86% of women and 74% of men said that environmental responsibility is “extremely important” to them.

In another study done by General Motors,

90% of women surveyed said they’d rather chat up a guy driving an alternatively powered transportation than a guy driving a gas guzzling sports car!

So GUYS…MAJOR CLUE: GO GREEN for GIRLS!!  I mean, seriously, if I had a choice between 2 equally awesome dudes and the only difference was that one was eco-friendly and the other was eco-clueless, it would be hands down ECO DUDE all the way!  I KNOW I am not the only gal that feels this way. The survey above should prove as much.

In regards to dating and the love life, the following are just SOME of the possibilities:

Afternoon out:
Agua Verde Café & Paddle Club - Rent a kayak by the hour, check out famous houseboats on Lake Union and paddle back to Agua Verde for sustainably-sourced Mexican food and live Salsa music.

Moss Bay Rowing - kayak and sailboat rentals and daily tours

Evening out:
Eat at Tilth in Wallingford, Stumbling Goat Bistro in Phinney Ridge or Austin Cantina in Ballard, then head downtown to the Annex Theater where performances are fueled by actor-powered bicycle generators!

Or, check out a late night non-profit comedy show at the Comedy Underground in Pioneer Square. All proceeds go to local charities.

No Date?

You can find local, like-minded greenies at Green Passions and Green Singles!

Are You Dressed for Success?

A nicely styled and well-manicured guy showing up for a date is HOT HOT HOT! If you feel lacking in the style department, can’t find the style you want in the stores, or just don’t have time to shop, Darcy Howard and her team at Get Lifestyled will help you out! Their aim isn’t to necessarily get you an entire new wardrobe if you don’t need one. They start by working with what you have and supplementing if necessary. I know they will do some eco-shopping for you if needed!

Getting Lucky Tonight?

Even your intimate moments can be green. Check out Good Clean Love for going eco in the intimate life too!

EcoKind Resource Links
