Happy St. Patrick's Day readers!

History of St. Patrick's Day
What the heck IS St. Patrick's Day anyway?  Check out our NY Night Life Examiner's hstory post here

A little local history
John Doyle Bishop used to paint a green stripe down 5th Avenue in honor of St. Patrick's Day and would then be arrested for using paint that didn't come off easily!

To this day, he is still honored in the Seattle St. Patrick's Day parades.  He was born an Idaho farm boy and became also known in Seattle for his flamboyant Liberace-influenced appearance, complete with long coats and capes and as owner of an exclusive women's clothing store from the 50's-70's.  He lived until 1980 to age 67.

Where to go & how to Green your St. Patrick's Day?
In case you missed my previous article on how to green your St. Patrick's Day, you can read it here and if you are looking for a true Irish pub experience, check out the local Irish pubs as listed by our Seattle Singles Guide Examiner.  Of course, you don't have to be single to go to those bars, so don't let the Examiner title deter you!  Ask for locally brewed beer!

An Irish prayer for you
May the road rise up to meet you
may the wind be ever at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face
and the rain fall softly on your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God* hold you in the hollow of his hand.

*If the God word doesn't resonate with you, just substitute "May all good hold you in its hand."!

Happy St. Patrick's Day everyone!
Have fun and of course, always have a designated driver or use public transportation.
