Houston romance writers final in big competition

This week, Romance Writers of America announced the finalists for their annual RITA and Golden Heart awards. The RITA honors romance fiction that was published in 2008 and the Golden Heart honors unpublished romance manuscripts written in 2008.

Among the finalists for RWA’s 2009 RITA awards are the following Houston area writers:
Best First Book and Best Young Adult – Oh My Gods by Tera Lynn Childs
Best Paranormal Romance – The Undead Next Door by Kerrelyn Sparks
Best Romantic Suspense – Triple Exposure by Colleen Thompson
Best Inspirational Romance – Mulberry Park by Judy Duarte
Best Inspirational Romance – Deep in the Heart of Trouble by Deeanne Gist
Best Series Contemporary – Texas Heir by Linda Warren


Additionally, Jennifer Bray-Weber has finaled in RWA’s 2009 Golden Heart competition in the Historical Romance category for Upon a Moonlit Sea.

The winners of the awards will be announced at the RITA and Golden Heart Awards Ceremony taking place on July 18, 2009 at RWA’s annual national conference in Washington, D. C.
