The traditional Thanksgiving dinner provides comfort and good company. For those who are willing to venture outside of a homemade butter-basted turkey, cranberries and potatoes, check out the following restaurants for a creative approach to the Thanksgiving feast.

Asia de Cuba, located at the Mondrian Hotel. Here you will find a Cuban-inspired family style Thanksgiving special. Choose between a Mojo-marinated pavochon, a term for lechon (pork roast) using turkey meat (pavo) in Puerto Rico; or an achiote-rubbed pork loin rost with togarashi dusted maduros. $38/person for either selection.

Bella Cuba, located at 16th and Washington. Experience Thanksgiving in the tropics, with Cuban classics playing in the background and several varieties of Cubans to smoke. A set menu of turkey and black beans and rice. Over 100 wines to choose from to match your Turkey. $40/person, includes one cocktail.

Fratelli la Bufala, 437 Washington Ave. A Thanksgiving pizza! For those who would like to celebrate Thanksgiving in jeans and a t-shirt. Neapolitan-style pizza with roasted turkey. Full menu available.

The Restaurant, at the Setai Hotel. A prix-fixe four course Thanksgiving dinner, elegantly blends the flavours of Asia with Latin elements. Notable selections include: Peking duck salad with candied shallots, pine nuts and lychee; Lobster coconut and Kaffir lime bisque with Thai basil shrimp dumplings, and a cinnamon pumpkin cheesecake. $75/person.

… And if the turkey is burnt beyond salvage… you can always go to Tobacco Road (626 South Miami Ave) for their $10.99 special of 16 oz. T-Bone Steak w/ Salad and Fries, Baked Potato (2 drink min.)
