Seattle may be famous for its use of the coffee bean, but we’re also making quite a name for ourselves in the cocoa bean department. Not so long ago Seattle’s own Fran’s Chocolates made national news after their famous milk chocolate salted caramels were declared a favorite of then President Elect Barack Obama. Now you too can sample Seattle’s best of the best of the chocolate world.
Tour de Chocolate, led by downtown favorite The Chocolate Box, takes groups of 10 or less on a 3-4 hour trek around Washington’s metropolis for a tour of Seattle’s chocolaty factories and a sample of their sweet treats. The tour meets in the morning at the Pine Street Chocolate Box then heads out for a delicious tour of Fiori Chocolatiers, Theo Chocolates, the now famous Fran’s Chocolates, Oh! Chocolate and Chocolate Vitale. Expert guides lead you through the process of chocolate making where you can witness some of the nation’s most prominent chocolatiers hard at work.
The tours are a mix of driving and walking so comfortable shoes are recommended as well as a bottle of water to clean the palate between chocolate tasting. Even at $65 a ticket these tours are selling out fast. Only offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday mornings by reservation, the month of March already has five sold out tour days. These special tours are perfect for chocolate lovers to bridal parties, visitors to birthday groups. Enjoy a sunny morning around the city with an outing affectionately known as the most fun tour in Seattle, Tour de Chocolate.
