
Presented by Can Can, the cabaret hotspot of Seattle, physical, musical and visual cabaret artists from around the world are coming to Seattle for one week during the Seattle International Cabaret Festival.
The avant-garde musical styling of The Tiger Lillies kicked off the big event just last week. Next up on the menu isThe Triple Door, which will be hosting The Vagabond Opera with Scarlet Room on Wednesday, November 11 at 7pm for all ages and again at 10pm for 21 and over for $18 advance or $20 day of. Vagabond Opera is known as a worldly and vintage cabaret act out of Portland, Oregon offering up a bohemian twist on the modern dark and theatrical cabaret shows.
The very next night at The Triple Door is the farewell performance of the Circus Contraption band and CD release with special guest Kitten on the Keys. Calling on the now defunct circus sideshows and freak shows of days gone by, Circus Contraption brings to life those creepy Victorian era traveling shows in a funny and memorable way. The show takes place Thursday, November 12 at 7pm for all ages, 10pm for 21 and over and tickets are $18 advance or $20 day of.
The fun does not stop there. ACT Theatre has a cabaret grab bag going on for three nights. Wednesday, November 11 showcases Arnaldo! Drag chanteuse in A Tribute to Eartha Kitt: An American Cabaret Icon at 7:30pm. The second show of the evening, Queen Shmooquan, comes on at 9pm. The next night, Thursday, November 12 has Vinsantos at 7pm and Queen Shmooquan at 9:30pm. Rounding out the week on Friday, November 13 is The Heavenly Spies in Kiss Kiss and the Bang Bang Band at 7pm followed by The Bad Things 6th Annual Cabaret Macabre at 9:30pm. Each show is an hour and a half and there are plenty of cabaret styles to choose from.
At the renowned Seattle cabaret club known as Can Can, The Can Can Castaways will be performing a variety of shows over the nights of November 11 through 15. Prices and times vary, so be sure to check out the Can Can myspace page.
For a quieter evening stop by the Pensione Nichols Bed and Breakfast on 1st Avenue on Wednesday, November 11 through Sunday, November 15 for ‘Poe’s Peculiar Parlour Series.’ Guests are encouraged to dress in Victorian attire as the evening goes back in time for a night of tarot cards, tea, film, literature, palm readings, spirit boards and live music.
The Finale Spectacular, also known as The Subterranean Cabaret Collective Grand Finale, takes the Seattle International Cabaret Festival out with a bang at The Moore Theatre on Sunday, November 15 at 8pm for $20. Just about everyone from the entire week will be at the finale including The Bad Things, The Castaways, Circus Contraption Band, Orkestar Zirkonium, Scarlet Room, Vinsantos and more. After The Moore there will be a band-led march to Can Can for a dance party with DJ Global Ruckus, which is free with purchase of a Grand Finale ticket.
The Seattle International Cabaret Festival is packing in the performances. With so many fabulous options at great prices, go ahead and make every night this week a night on the town.
