The League of American Bicyclists released the 2009 Bicycle Friendly state rankings.  The results may surprise some expecting Oregon to take the top spot this year, with the press Portland garners for it's bicycle programs. Washington maintained their top spot, while Alabama floundered at #50 (dropping 2 places from 2008).

Other surprising shifts were MIssissippi (up 23 spots), Georgia (up 18)  and Delaware (up 22 pts).  Major drops include Florida (down 12) and South Carolina (down 11).

Top 3 states:

1. Washington - Silver*
2. Wisconsin - Silver*
3. Maine

Bottom 3 states:

48. Oklahoma
49. Montana
50. Alabama
