1. Odegaard Undergraduate Library study alcoves on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Here you will find soft blue couches. Its quiet, soft, and you can use a chair as an ottoman and basically lie down. The only disadvantage is that at certain times of the day the sun is shining directly on these spots and it can be too bright and get uncomfortably hot. But if you are a cat-like sleeper than this is perfect!
2. Odegaard/Suzzalo studyrooms. There is no end to the things that you can do in these quiet private spaces. But I’m not saying that you are allowed to do everything. Let’s just say, if you don’t want anyone to bug you or have to worry about having your bag stolen while you are out cold with your face on the desk, this is a safe option. (Note: don’t put your face in the crook of your arm if you are wearing a textured sweater. I once had cable knit face for an entire afternoon.)
3. Suzzalo/Allen study room area on the first floor: this area is a little more exposed, as the floor to ceiling windows look out on the garden north of Allen. Also, you can’t spread out as much because of the way the couches are slightly c-shaped. Plus, the back is short so your neck gets cramped.
4. Hey! It’s spring! Taking a nap in the quad underneath the cherry blossoms and working on your tan is a viable option.

My dad always says, “It's not where you are, its who you're with.” But at a school of about 40,000 people, where it’s possible to never see the same person on campus more than once, its hard to know who you’re with. So, I’ve... Read More
