In 1970, the Nixon Administration established the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in response to public concern to "do something" about the deteriorating conditions of our water, air, and lands. Since then, there have been charges of partisan manipulation of the EPA. Now, during congressional action on Obama’s global warming bills, there are business news reports that Obama’s EPA officials suppressed new and vital science questioning the need and efficacy of climate control legislation. Last week, the House narrowly passed the “American Clean Energy and Security Act” --  which contrary to its duplicitous title, is a massive national carbon tax plan, and a costly bureaucrat-burdened, unconstitutional theft of state and local government sovereignty.

The Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) reports that internal EPA e-mails indicate that a March 2009 EPA Report was suppressed and its authors muzzled due to pressure to rush through the administration's climate bills. Specifically, the EPA Report questioned the requisite “human endangerment” finding for CO2  to be designated as an “air pollutant.” The Report goes on to criticize: 1) EPA’s adoption of the United Nations' 2007 "Fourth Assessment” that relied on outdated research by its Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), 2) EPA’s failure to account for the decline in temperatures as CO2 levels have increased, and 3) EPA’s acceptance of the unsubstantiated "consensus" on storm frequency and intensity resulting from global warming.

Former Clinton EPA  Administrator Carol Browner is now Obama’s “Climate Czar,“ and  Lisa Jackson is Obama’s new EPA Administrator.  Ms. Jackson, the former head of New Jersey's Department of Environmental Protection, led her state's efforts to regulate greenhouse gas emissions.
