Singer-songwriter Marshall Crenshaw, a native Detroiter, returned to the area with a performance last night at the Magic Bag in Fashionable Ferndale. Although he didn't draw the numbers that KISS drew for their return to Cobo Arena, the full-house in the small venue consisted of a very appreciative crowd.

In spite of the fact that Crenshaw had only had one top 40 hit in his career ("Someday, Someway" hit number 36 on the Billboard charts), he is considered by many to be one of the finest songwriters of that era.

Crenshaw mixed up his set at the Magic Bag with a many of his popular songs from the 80's ("Someday, Someway," "Cynical Girl") along with songs from his new album Jaggedland, the first release on his new record label 429 Records.

Being such a small venue, holding only a couple hundred people, Crenshaw made his way to the back of the theater for an impromptu meet-and-greet after his performance.
